Jiiva and director Raju Murugan, known for helming Cuckoo and the critically-acclaimed Joker, have teamed up for Gypsy.

Though the film was wrapped up long back, it didn't get through the censors. The censor board had advocated several cuts following which the issue was taken up to the Tribunal. Now the film has been censored with an 'A' certificate with limited cuts and mutes.

Reports are that there are some scenes in the film that resemble the issues that happened in the Yogi Adithyanath government in Uttar Pradesh and that is the reason behind the censor board’s disapproval.

The film has been produced by S Ambedkumar under the banner of Olympia Movies. Sources say that soon team Gypsy will be officially announcing the release date of the film.

The film also stars Natasha Singh, Lal Jose, Sunny Wayne and Susheela Raman. This film marks the debut appearance of Lal Jose and Sunny Wayne in Tamil cinema. Santosh Narayan is composing the tunes for this flick with Sathyan Sooryan cranking the camera and Raymond Derrick Crasta editing it.

Meanwhile, Jiiva, who was last seen in Gorilla, is currently waiting for the release Seeru. Seeru is an action thriller film written and directed by Rathina Shiva. The film stars Jiiva, Navdeep, and Riya Suman. D Imman composes music for the film which is bankrolled by Ishari K Ganesh under his banner Vels Film International.

Jiiva is looking for a break as his recent Gorilla a heist comedy bombed at the box office. Written and directed by Don Sandy, the film also starred Yogi Babu, Radha Ravi, Sathish, Rajendran and Ramdoss in supporting roles along with a real chimpanzee who played a prominent role.
