The upcoming Jayasurya starrer Sufiyum Sujathayum is an intense romantic tale, we hear. The film has Aditi Rao Hydari playing the female lead and she will be seen as Jayasurya’s wife. Wielding the megaphone for this venture is Naranipuzha Shanavas, director of the critically acclaimed film Karie. The film is bankrolled by Vijay Babu under his banner Friday Film House.

Jayasurya said to the Times of India, “The magnificent content of the movie is narrated through lovely songs. I was excited to choose it as the content is interesting. It is going to be a feel-good movie that will linger in your minds.”

Actor and producer Vijay Babu said that Jayasurya will be seen in a different avatar altogether in Sufiyum Sujathayum. The producer added that it is a romantic thriller with dark humour thrown in.

Speaking about the film, particularly Aditi Rao Hydari’s role in it, the producer said, “The film’s story happens in two timelines. Sujata is an extremely pretty kathak dancer. It took us almost three years to find Sujata, and Aditi immediately said yes when we narrated the story to her. Aditi will play two stages of Sujata’s life in the movie, just like Jayasurya.”

The cast of this film includes Siddique, Hareesh Kanaran, Vijay Babu, Mamukkoya, Manikandan Pattambi, Kalaranjini and Navas Vallikkunnu in supporting roles. Anu Moothedath will be cranking the camera and M Jayachandran has been roped in to compose the tunes. The shooting of Sufiyum Sujathayum is expected to begin later this month.

Naranipuzha Shanavas’s first film Karie was about a man from a lower caste performing the temple art form of Karinkali, during which he is believed to become god. But even when he is god, the Karinkali is not allowed inside the temple, because of his caste.
