After being a part of some big commercial and critical successes in the recent past, such as Thani Ourvan, Miruthan and Bogan, Jayam Ravi is ready with his next film Tik Tik Tik.

The makers initially announced that the movie would hit the screens on January 26, ahead of the long Republic Day weekend, but just two days before the release they have confirmed that the movie’s release date has been postponed. Industry grapevine is that the film is being postponed due to financial reasons.

Jayam Ravi took to Twitter to announce the same and wrote, “#Tiktiktik will not be releasing this Republic Day but we will be announcing a new release date very soon! I thank my fans and well wishers for standing by me as always & request you to continue supporting the film. #tiktiktikcomingsoon”

Meanwhile, on January 26, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Nimir, Anushka Shetty’s Bhaagamathie and Vimal’s Mannar Vagaiyara will hit the screens.

Tik Tik Tik, promoted as India’s first space film, has been directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan and stars Jayam Ravi and Nivetha Pethuraj in the lead roles.

The movie has set the right kind of expectation with the trailer. With a neat screenplay and story, the film is expected to work well at the box office. Interestingly, Tik Tik Tik is the title of a 1981 film starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role.

The story is all about an asteroid that hits Ennore in Chennai and India’s Department of Defence realises that another one will hit India in seven days. This could affect millions of lives and destroy the country. The solution decided upon is to take the help of a trained magician who can escape any given situation. The hurdles that this trained artist faces, including the shot in the end that looks a lot similar to the one in The Martian, will form the rest of the story.

The film also stars Oru Naal Koothu fame Nivetha Pethuraj, who is trained in jujutsu and kickboxing, Ramesh Thilak and Singapore actor Aaron Aziz will be seen as the main antagonist in the film. Tik Tik Tik also marks the acting debut of Jayam Ravi’s son Aarav. He is all set to play Ravi’s reel son in the film. According to sources, Aarav won’t feature in a blink-and-you-miss kind of a role and, in fact, has a substantial one vis-à-vis his father.

The production also reunites director Shakti with his Miruthan composer D Imman and cinematographer S Venkatesh.
