After playing a zombie, a tribesman and an escape artist, Jayam Ravi is all set to play a RAW agent in the Tamil remake of Akshay Kumar’s 2015 spy thriller Baby, which also starred Anupam Kher, Rana Daggubati and Taapsee Pannu in key roles. The film will be directed by I Ahmed, who is known for helming projects such as Endrendrum Punnagai and Manithan, a remake of Jolly LLB. The project is slated to go on the floors very soon and Madhie, who has worked on projects such as Ghazi and Bhaagmathie, will crank the camera.

“The official announcement will be made very soon. But the project is definitely happening and Ravi is really excited about it. Ahmed is currently working on the final draft of the script and if everything goes as planned, they’ll go on the floors from April or May,” a source close to Ravi said.

Currently awaiting the release of space film Tik Tik Tik, Ravi is supposed to commence work on Sundar C’s magnum opus from this summer. However, reliable sources have hinted that the project has been put on the back burner for the time being and will be revived at a later stage.

Having predominantly made his mark starring in remake of major Telugu films, Ravi has made smart career choices in the last couple of years. It should be noted that Thani Oruvan, which was directed by his brother, was a major game changer for his career. Since then, he’s made a conscious effort to do something offbeat in terms of his script selection. At the audio launch of Tik Tik Tik earlier this month in Chennai, Ravi said nobody believed him when he said he’s going to star in a space film. He said he’s happy he has proved them all wrong and is eagerly looking forward to the release of Tik Tik Tik.
