Assamese superstar Jatin Bora starring Ratnakar: A New Myth of Love which hit the screens on October 11 has been declared a blockbuster hit. The film which has been directed by Jatin Bora and produced by himself is said to be loosely inspired from Thalapathy Vijay's Theri directed by Atlee.

The film is about the struggle of a single father played by Jatin and the adorable bond he shares with his daughter played by Dubori.

Ratnakar got a positive response from the audiences and critics. The film reportedly got an occupancy of 80% and has collected Rs.49 lakh on its opening which is the highest for any Assamese movie.

The film also stars Barsha Rani Bishaya, Nishita Goswami, Rina Bora and Ashramika Saikia. Bankrolled by Jatin and Navanita Sharma under the banner of J.B. Production, it has music composed by Zubeen Garg, cinematography by Pradip Doimari, and Pratim Khaound is in charge of editing.

Theri was the maiden collaboration of Thalapathy Vijay with Director Atlee. Bankrolled by Kalaipuli S. Thanu, the film had Vijay and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles, while Amy Jackson, Mahendran, Prabhu and Raadhika amongst others formed an ensemble cast.

Theri created several box office records. The film grossed a huge collection at the international box office and officially joined Rs 100 crore club. The film's storyline resembled Vijaykanth's blockbuster hit Chatriyan which was written and produced by Mani Ratnam. Theri and Chatriyan's storylines bear an uncanny resemblance. Both films are about honest police officers who go into exile to bring up their children. Vijay and Vijaykanth settle their scores with the villain when their children's lives are at risk.
