News that Jai will be making his debut in the Malayalam film industry with the Mammootty starrer Madhura Raja was announced some weeks ago. The latest development is that the actor has joined the sets and will begin shooting his scenes with Mammootty. Jai is said to be excited to make his debut in Mollywood, more so because his first film is with the legendary actor Mammootty.

Madhura Raja is a sequel to the 2010 hit movie Pokkiri Raja, which had Mammootty and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. Reports indicate that Prithviraj may be doing a cameo role in Madhura Raja. Earlier, the director of the film had approached Prithviraj for a role in the film but he reportedly turned it down citing prior commitments. Besides Prithviraj in a cameo, Madhura Raja will have Sunny Leone featuring in a dance sequence. Touted to be an action entertainer, the film is bankrolled by Nelson Ipe under his banner on a big budget.

The film is directed by Vyasakh with the scripting done by him in association with Udaykrishna. The first schedule of Madhura Raja has been wrapped up successfully and the second schedule is currently going on. The team will be wrapping up the entire shooting with the third schedule after which the post-production will begin. Madhura Raja will be a Vishu release this year.

Speaking about the film, writer Udaykrishna had earlier told the Times of India in an interview that its climax would be the highlight and that extensive special effects will be used for those scenes. He was quoted as saying, “We will be using visual effects in the climax scenes of the movie and it will be absolute spectacle. We are sure that it will amaze the audience, especially the action scenes in these portions (sic).”
