Director Gopi Nainar, who made a terrific directorial debut with Nayanthara’s socio-political drama Aramm last year, has commenced shoot of his next yet-untitled project. The film features Jai and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead and the principal shooting began last week.

Talking about the project, Gopi told The New Indian Express: “We started shooting from the end of last week. The film is about oppressed people and how their talents are not recognized because of their identity. How a youth from such a background tries to safeguard himself is the story. It's also about the culture of football in North Madras.”

He went on to add: “A lot of well-known football players from the area, who are known across the country, are also a part of the cast. The entire film will be shot in the same locality and we're expecting to complete the shooting in one go.” This project marks the first time collaboration of Jai and Aishwarya, who was recently seen playing a Sri Lankan Tamilian in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.

Aishwarya told TNM that Gopi was hell-bent on having her on board for this project. “He was adamant on having me in this project. It’s a film that addresses a very important issue in our society. I’ve got a very strong character and you could actually call this a woman-centric film.” Aishwarya also has Vada Chennai and Dhruva Natchathiram and going by the lineup, she’s undoubtedly the busiest actor in Tamil filmdom.

The film also stars Vinoth and Bigg Boss fame Daniel Pope in key roles. Theni Eswar has been roped in to crank the camera while Prasad is in charge of music.
