The last Malayalam film that Shamna Kasim starred in was Mili which released in 2015. Since then, she had been busy with a bunch of Telugu and Tamil movies and is now all set for a comeback in Mollywood.

Shamna’s upcoming film release would be Oru Kuttanadan Blog which has Mammootty in the lead role. Shamna is reported to have revealed that it was mega star Mammootty himself who had suggested her for the role and she is thankful for it. Shamna had recently shaved off her hair for one of her Tamil films and the short hair she is sporting now is one of the reasons for bagging the role of the cop in Oru Kuttanadan Blog. Her role in the film is said to be meaty and movie buffs are eagerly waiting to see her performance.

Mammootty plays a middle-aged man named Hari living in the village of Krishnapuram. He is a well-loved personality in the area, especially among the youth, while Shamna plays a powerful cop, a role that is said to complement the hero’s.

Oru Kuttanadan Blog was initially titled Kozhy Thankachan but it was later renamed as the story will be narrated through a blog. Interestingly, the film will mark the directorial debut of famed writer Sethu (of Sachi – Sethu duo). Actor Unni Mukundan will be debuting as assistant director in the film. Besides being credited for his work as an assistant director, Unni Mukundan has also rendered a song for the album.

The film is bankrolled by PK Muralidharan and Shantha Muralidharan under the banner Anantha Vision. The film has three heroines – Raai Laxmi, Anu Sithara and Shamna Kasim – in the star cast with the supporting cast comprising of Siddique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Nedumudi Venu, Adil Ibrahim and Jude Anthany Joseph. Vineeth Sreenivasan will make a cameo appearance in the film.

The shooting of this film commenced in March this year and will be Mammootty’s next film release of the year. Sources in the know say that its makers are planning it as an Onam release.
