Actor Unni Mukundan will be debuting as assistant director in the Malayalam film Oru Kuttanadan Blog. Interestingly, the film will mark the directorial debut of famed writer Sethu (Sachi – Sethu). Besides being credited for his work as an assistant director, Unni Mukundan has also rendered a song for the album.

Confirming this, he wrote on his Facebook page: “Really glad and humbled to take on a very interesting role behind the camera in the much awaited project ‘Oru Kuttanadan Blog’, as a playback singer. It was really disappointing for me when I missed out on the incredible opportunity to associate my dear brother Sethu in this project because of my unavoidable work commitments; but this one chance instantly made up for all the disappointments. I was fortunate enough to render my voice for this all full of life song from the movie, which is a totally different genre from what I have tried so far in my musical experiments. Immensely grateful that I could be a part of this project in the best possible way. All my love, wishes and prayers to both my favorite people, Mammokka and Sethu chettan on this project we are all keenly looking forward to. Can’t wait to see my name in that list of play back singers! It was indeed humbling to be sharing the space with such ace singers. I do hope that you all will love the track and I would like to take a moment to thank the entire team of ‘Oru Kuttanadan blog’, who made this possible for me (sic).”

Oru Kuttanadan Blog was initially titled Kozhy Thankachan but was later renamed, as the story will be narrated through a blog. The film is bankrolled by PK Muralidharan and Shantha Muralidharan under the banner Anantha Vision. On Mammootty’s role in the film, we hear that he plays a middle-aged man who is the role model for all the youth in his village. It is slated for release at Onam this year.
