With the city experiencing major demolition drives against encroachments on various lake beds, BJP MLA Suresh Kumar on Monday demanded that the State government convene a special legislature to debate the issue, reported Deccan Herald.Calling the Congress governement a "JCB government", the MLA has dared it to raze prime properties like the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office built on Miller’s tank, Kempegowda bus terminal on Dhamarmbhudhi lake and the KSPCB office on Saneguruvanahalli lake, the report said.He blamed the Bangalore Development Authority for creating layouts on lake beds and demanded the government take action against them. He also said that the encroachments had occured due to the collusion between officials and land grabbers.Hebbal MLA Jagadish Kumar raised the issue of the Forest Department declaring that 711 acres in Kadugodi belonged to them while the KIADB had alloted the land for industrial development. He also wondered whether the government would demolish the ISRO building since it was constructed on a lake.
