The News Minute | March 8, 2015 | 11:31 am IST â€œWhat you do, the way you think, makes you beautiful.” ― Scott WesterfeldOn the event of International Women's Day, Stop Acid Attacks (SAA), an NGO that campaigns against acid attacks, has launched a calendar featuring acid attack fighters.Through the project called Bello, SAA is attempting to highlight the inner beauty of acid attack survivors and to broaden the interpretation of beauty.'The idea behind the calendar shoot by Acid Attack fighters emerged from the debate on the true meaning of beauty and the present attitude of the society towards understanding the concept of beauty in a limited realm. We stand against all those who discriminate and misjudge those who have lost their faces but have strived to retain their identities', SAA writes on its website. According to SAA, the calendar, depicts the survivors in the professions they wanted to be in before the gruesome attacks on them. 'For instance Acid Attack Fighter Rupa, a survivor has designed the clothes for all of the models as she wanted to be an apparel designer while Rajwant Kaur, a survivor from ‪#‎Ludhiana‬, is shown as a photojournalist, something she had aspired to be while Dolly is depicted as a doctor and Gita as a chef', it says. Rahul Saharan, Surabhi Jaiswal and Pascal Mannaerts are the three photographers behind the project. March 8 also marks the 3rd Foundation Day ceremony of SAA, and the organisation is trying to reach 100 million people across the world with its one-of-its-kind venture. Funds raised by the sale of the calender will be used for the rehabilitation of acid attack survivors in India. Apart from the calender, SAA is also working on the 'Reach Out' project to document 300 acid attack survivors to reintegrate them into the mainstream society. The network will work to ensure skill development for acid attack survivors. Here are some of the photographs from the calender.  To purchase the calender, visit http://paltan.in.
