The first schedule of the upcoming Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kurup has been wrapped up. Confirming the news, Indrajith Sukumaran, who plays an important role in the film, wrote on his social networking page, “Wrapped up the first schedule for Kurup. Was a delight to work with Srinath Rajendran and team. Looking forward to the next schedule in North India and my combo scenes with Mr. Kuruppu, DQ!!” The next schedule of this film will happen in North India."

Srinath Rajendran, the director of Kurup, is also the director of the first movie Dulquer acts in, Second Show. Both of them made their debut with the film in 2012. It is seven years later that they work together again.

Apart from Dulquer and Indrajith, Kurup also stars Sobhita Dhulipala, Sunny Wayne, and Shine Tom Chacko. The film is based on the life of the most elusive accused till date, Sukumara Kurup.

Kurup is scripted by Daniell Sayooj Nair and KS Aravind while Jithin K Jose has penned the story. Based on real-life incidents around one of Kerala's most wanted criminals—Sukumara Kurup— the film will see Dulquer Salmaan in the titular role. Accused of murdering a film representative named Chacko, Sukumara Kurup had faked his own death. Apparently, his plan was to murder Chacko and pass it off as his own death to claim a large amount of insurance. It was a sensational case; more so because the police could not arrest the main accused who has been on the run since, while co-accused driver Ponnappan and brother-in-law Bhaskar Pillai were sentenced to life-term imprisonment.

Nimish Ravi has been roped in to crank the camera for the film with Sushin Shyam in charge of composing the music. The film is expected to hit the marquee later this year or early next.
