The shooting of the Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kurup began a few days ago and is progressing well. According to the latest reports doing rounds, Indrajith Sukumaran has joined the sets of this film and scenes involving him are being shot.

Wielding the megaphone for Kurup is Srinath Rajendran and Dulquer Salmaan plays the title role in it. Srinath and Dulquer made their debut together seven years ago with Second Show, the former directing it and the latter playing his hero.

According to the director, a lot of effort has gone into the making of Kurup. He pointed out in an earlier Facebook post that it took him about five years of research to get the film on the floors. On the project going to the floors, the director wrote much earlier, “Grateful to the almighty for this day, on which we announce the good news that Kurup goes on floors from today. We took around 5 years of our sweet time working on this epic and I, personally, thank Dulquer Salmaan for being with us throughout this journey. Details regarding the crew, cast and other details will be announced soon.”

Kurup is scripted by Daniell Sayooj Nair and KS Aravind while Jithin K Jose has penned the story. Sukumara Kurup, the real-life person on whom the movie is based, is accused of murdering a film representative named Chacko in 1984. Kurup also faked his own death. His plan was to murder Chacko and pass it off as his own death to claim a large amount of insurance. It was a sensational case; more so because the police could not arrest the main accused – who is still absconding -- while co-accused driver Ponnappan and brother-in-law Bhaskar Pillai were sentenced to life-term imprisonment. It is one of the longest unsolved cases in Kerala till date. Reports are that a lot of research has gone into the project.
