A Mumbai man who was arrested in Dubai for killing his Keralite wife has been convicted by Dubai’s highest court and will reportedly face the firing squad in the United Arabs Emirates.

Minnie Dhananjay, who changed her name to Bushra Qamruddin after the marriage with Atif Qamruddin Popere (26), was killed by him with the help of his Pakistani friend in March 2013 in Dubai for questioning Popere’s extramarital affair. Minnie married Popere in 2008 from Mumbai.

The Times of India reports that parents of Minnie have welcomed the Dubai Cassation Court’s order and are now fighting another legal battle in Mumbai high Court for the custody of Minnie’s 5-year-old daughter, who is now staying with Popere’s parents in Mangaon, Raigad.

“We are happy and relieved that justice has been delivered by the highest court in Dubai for my daughter's killer husband and his friend of Pakistani origin“ Minnie’s mother Usha Dhananjay, told ToI.

As per the report Popere will face the firing squad in next 10 to 15 days.
