Two decades since they worked together for the first time in Indian, actor Kamal Haasan and director Shankar are reuniting for the film’s sequel, which was announced over the weekend at the finale of reality show Bigg Boss, amidst rumours that the film will take off immediately. However, multiple sources from Shankar’s camp have confirmed that the project will only go on the floors after the filmmaker is completely relieved off 2.0 while Haasan is expected to wrap up Vishwaroopam 2 and Sabash Naidu

The pre-production of Indian 2, rumoured to be made on a budget of Rs. 200 crore, will begin from February 2018.

Having completed his contract with Star Vijay for Bigg Boss, Haasan will finish the pending work on Vishwaroopam 2 in the next two months and get the film out for Christmas.

His action-comedy Sabash Naidu, a spin-off on the character Balram Naidu from Dasavatharam, will recommence from January next year. After falling from the stairs of his office and fracturing his leg last year, the shoot of Sabash Naidu had to be stalled. Haasan was expected to return to complete Sabash Naidu in six months. However, due to unexpected commitment and coming on board for Bigg Boss, he couldn’t go ahead with the project, which also stars Shruti Haasan, Ramya Krishnan and Brahmanandam.

Meanwhile, Shankar is expected to wrap up the magnum opus 2.0, a sequel to Enthiran, by this year-end and gear up for its release in January 2018. It is believed that AR Rahman has been signed for Indian 2, which will be shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. The project will be bankrolled by popular Telugu producer Dil Raju. At Bigg Boss Tamil finale, Shankar said he has planning to make a sequel to Indian for a long time and he is glad that it’s finally happening.
