Actor Dhanush, who is also a producer and director, tweeted on Wednesday that maestro Ilaiyaraaja has sung a song in his upcoming film Maari 2. Directed by Balaji Mohan, the film is a sequel to Maari, which released in 2015. Dhanush said that hearing the maestro sing was a ‘divine experience’.

Maari 2 will have music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Apart from Dhanush, the film also has Sai Pallavi, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Tovino Thomas in the cast. Sai Pallavi is all set to make her Tamil debut with Karu in February and Maari 2 will probably be her second film to hit the screens.

Balaji Mohan had tweeted previously that he was happy to have Yuvan Shankar Raja on board Maari 2. The music composer had last worked on a Dhanush film 10 years ago. Yuvan, or YSR as he's popularly called, is one of the most popular music directors in the Tamil film industry currently. He’s also Ilaiyaraaja's son.

The film, which is expected to release in Tamil and Telugu, will mark Tovino’s debut in the Tamil industry. The actor is fresh from the success of the Aashiq Abu directorial Mayaanadhi, in which he played a criminal on the run. He has also acted in Tharangam, a black comedy, which marked Dhanush’s first Malayalam film production.

Dhanush is also working on Gautham Menon’s Enai Nokki Paayum Thota.
