The News Minute | February 22, 2015 | 1.10 PM ISTFollowing a notification from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development of February 18 cutting down leaves and permitting only a minimal hike in fellowship, over 500 research scholars are boycotting work and laboratory. The notification has created this response from the researchers because the government had earlier assured that it would increase the fellowship money provided to them. However, the said notification has done little to make the researcher community happy. The fellowship has given Rs. 25,000 for a four-year Ph.D. programme. The researchers demand that this amount should be given for the first two years and Rs. 28,000 for the remaining two terms, Deccan Chronicle reported.Even in the case of leaves, the memorandum has fallen short is what the students are saying. Thirty days leave was permitted before but the current notification has not even mentioned about the number of leaves, says a student researcher. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
