Following the runaway success of superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0, Shankar is all set to commence work on Indian 2 with Kamal Haasan. On November 7 and on the special occasion of his Kamal’s 64 birthday Lyca Productions officially announced Indian 2, a sequel to Shankar’s blockbuster film Indian, which starred Haasan in dual roles, as father and son.

While the makers are yet to officially reveal more details about the project, it has already been confirmed that Kajal Aggarwal will play the leading lady and the film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander.

As the team gets ready to begin shooting of Indian 2 later this month, Shankar has revealed he has plans for Mudhalvan 2. Talking about the project to Shruti Haasan on her chat show Hello Sago, he revealed he wants to make the sequel to Mudhalvan with Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan.

He also said that if both of them are not interested, then he’d approach Vijay. It’d be really interesting to see to the project materialise, especially at a time when the political climate in Tamil Nadu is questionable.

Mudhalvan starred Arjun as a reporter who goes on to become the CM of a state for a single day.

Meanwhile, Haasan is expected to shed weight to play his role in Indian 2. He’s believed to undergo strict weight loss program under the supervision of a team of trainers from the US.

The news about Indian 2 was first announced during the first season of Tamil Bigg Boss, which was hosted by Haasan. There are also reports that Kamal might revive Sabash Naidu, the spin-off based on the character Balram Naidu from Dasavatharam.

However, there’s still no official word on the film yet. The project went on the floors couple of years ago and the team even shot a schedule in the US. Following an unfortunate incident where Haasan fell from his office stairs and sprained his leg, the project was put on the back-burner.
