Popular actor and comedian Yogi Babu has clarified on Tuesday that he will not be playing the hero in director Sam Anton’s upcoming film. The actor was addressing industry rumours that were making the rounds a few days ago.

Director Sam Anton had recently announced that his next film, a hostage comedy, will star Yogi Babu in an important role. The news that Yogi will be playing the lead in Sam’s upcoming film spread like wildfire in industry circles.

Yogi Babu on Tuesday, clarified in a video to news channels that the film’s story has two main characters, played by a dog and a foreigner. “I play a comedian only. My character travels throughout the story but the most important role is played by the dog and the foreigner only,” he’s seen saying in the video. 

He further added that in Balaji Mohan’s upcoming production he plays a rural character and not the lead in that film either. “I want to travel as a comedian till the very end. Please do not believe in rumours. Please see me as a comedian only,” he emphasised.

Yogi also shared that upon hearing the news that he had signed up to play hero in director Sam’s film, a few directors and producers had approached him with script ideas. “I had to turn them down and clarify saying I don’t plan on playing the hero ever,” he says.

Director Sam who has made films like Darling, Enakku Innoru Per Iruku, is currently busy with 100 starring Atharvaa. The actor will be seen playing a cop in this film.

Yogi Babu’s role in Nayanthara’s Kolamavu Kokila earned him wide appreciation. The actor has a good number of films up for release including Pariyerum Perumal, Viswasam, Sarkar, 100% Kadhal and more.
