A 37-year-old woman M Jyothi, who was undergoing fertility treatment in Hyderabad, slipped into a coma due to alleged  medical negligence of the doctors at Srujana Fertility Centre.

The fertility centre is situated in Nagole, which is on the outskirts of the city.

The New Indian Express reported:

Her husband M Suman Kalyan said that Jyothi was undergoing fertility treatment at the centre and on September 12 she was administered short general anesthesia to harvest ova and her medical condition started to deteriorate. Within three hours, she was detected to be suffering from severe hypoxic brain damage and was still in coma till Tuesday. Doctors reportedly stated that even if she recovers, she will lead her life in a vegetative state.

The report adds that Kalyan lodged a complaint against five doctors with the Chaitanyapuri police and was preparing to take the matter to court.

"Even after two weeks of treatment there is no improvement in her condition...Due to the ignorance and incompetence of the doctors my wife is now on ventilator and is battling for life. We went to the hospital for fertility treatment but now my wife is unconscious," Kalyan told Deccan Chronicle.

“We have seized Jyothi’s medical records and will forward it to the district health officer for inquiry. Based on the report we will take action,” Chaitanyapuri inspector Guru Raghavendra told DC.
