A 29-year-old IT professional was arrested by Rachakonda Cyber Crime police on Friday allegedly for harassing people on social media by creating and posting their fake profiles on gay websites.

The accused was identified as T Suresh, a resident of Bachupally working as technical lead in a software company in Madhapur.

After Suresh uploaded photographs and contact number of a reputed surgeon on a gay porn sites on November 29, the doctor started receiving calls. He later lodged a complaint with the police.

The surgeon reported that ever since his personal number has been uploaded in the websites, he has been receiving more than 50 phone calls a day from unknown men who insist on meeting him privately.

“Suresh has a fake Facebook profile and he picked up the surgeon's photo and cellphone number from the latter's Facebook account,“ cybercrime inspector Md Riyazuddin told Times of India.

Through his fake Facebook account, Suresh posted on Facebook wall of the surgeon saying that the doctor was gay.

Police registered a case and during investigation, they came to know that several petitions were pending against the accused for these activities.

“Suresh posted comments about the targeted person on the Facebook wall of the victim’s contacts stating that, victim was gay,’’ said Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M Bhagavat told The New Indian Express.

However, Suresh confessed to police that he was bisexual since college, but for past two years, he had only spent time with men. He also confessed that he experienced pleasure by harassing professionals and uploaded their photos on gay escort service sites.

It was also reported that along with two of his friends, he selected targets randomly by browsing Facebook profiles and collect contact details from their friend’s list.

After that they create fake profiles of the victims with their original photographs and posted them to various gay websites. He would also call the victims ask whether they were interested in a gay relationship.

In the past one year, police have received six more complaints against Suresh.
