In a shocking incident, the Hyderabad police took almost half an hour to respond to an emergency 'Dial 100' call citing that they were providing security arrangements for a VIP's house.
The Times of India reported:
Around 4:15 pm, a few youngsters, Mubazir, Sirish and Srikanth rounded up and started thrashing a person, Anush Kumar, black and blue on Road Number 3, Banjara Hills. On noticing the thrashing, TOI staff and a few passers-by called `Dial 100'. The first complaint landed at the `Dial 100' desk at 4:15 pm and the EMRI officials passed on the information to Police Control Room (PCR), Hyderabad by 4:16 pm. However, a two-member police party reached the location after 4:45 pm.
The attackers also tried to allegedly attack the TOI photographer when he tried to take pictures of the incident.
The TOI report adds that Anush Kumar allegedly uploaded a fake profile in the name of 'Neha Jain' and promised to show a flat to a woman on rent. However, the other woman suspected something fishy and arrived with three of her friends. Following this, Anush tried to flee, but was caught and beaten up.
The police have claimed that the patrolling party got caught in traffic and had to attend to an accident before reaching the location.
