A 38-year-old man identified as Jagadeeshwar, working as a teacher at a school in Hyderabad, was arrested on Friday for allegedly sexually abusing a female student.

The accused was charged under relevant sections of IPC along with Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to reports, the accused, a resident of Yacharam in Ranga Reddy district, was abusing a class 8 student for the past few days. Noticing the strange behaviour of the victim, who was traumatised and stopped interacting with her family, the girl’s mother confronted her.

Upon questioning, the victim confided in her mother about the abuse. She told the mother that Jagadeeshwar was touching her inappropriately and was behaving in the same manner with other female students too.

Subsequently, the victim’s mother filed a complaint with the Neredmet police. The accused was promptly taken into custody and further investigation is underway.

According to a report by The Times of India, the accused would touch the girls inappropriately after calling them to meet him personally on the pretext of giving extra study material.

Police reportedly said that the accused during investigation said that “he was just trying to be friendly with the students.”

Meanwhile, a rape incident was reported in Punjagutta, Hyderabad. A woman complained that her son-in-law sexually assaulted her, while she was sleeping after taking anti-depressant pills. The incident reportedly took place on November 13. The accused is presently absconding.

According to reports, when confronted by his wife, the accused confessed to the crime and said that he would divorce her. Police have registered a case.
