Indian IT Major Tech Mahindra’s CEO and MD CP Gurnani recently told TOI that 94% of engineering graduates are not fit for hiring, pointing towards a wide skill gap, which also makes it difficult to retain those who are hired.

There has been a need for re-skilling and re-aligning the incoming workforce towards emerging technologies.

Hyderabad-based startup Loop Reality, which developed a VR-based solution PerspectAI, which helps employers understand a candidate has the competencies required for the job, has now launched a solution to map strengths of students and unemployed across sectors.

Loop Reality, which is part of Hyderabad-based T-Hub’s flagship Lab32 program, has launched a mobile app ‘WiT - What it Takes', an AI-based Assessment Tool, which maps strengths of students and unemployed with relevant jobs across sectors.

Launched last week at the Vizag FinTech Festival by ITE&C Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Lokesh, What IT Takes measures 18 traits that are critical to the employability of young graduates. This is done through fun and engaging mobile games on the What It Takes app, which helps a person understand his or her strengths, weaknesses and training, skilling needs.

At present, What It Takes is still in a testing phase. “We are testing games, gathering data, looking at response times, what is the statistical analysis to assess the reliability of these results. But we are already seeing immense interest from companies and are in the process of developing various use cases for large companies and startups,” says Ravitheja Muthu, Co-Founder and Chief Growth Hacker at Loop Reality.

Loop Reality’s flagship offering PerspectAI has 10-20 min modules in the form of games and simulations using a multi-dimensional approach, which help understand if a candidate has the competencies required for the job, and if not, what is the gap and how this gap can be bridged.

PerspectAI is an automated system, where an employer can simply select a module and have the employee or prospective candidate take the test and generate a report. The report helps the organisation understand the candidate’s abilities without any bias.

It officially launched this offering in July 2018. PerspectAI currently has several paid clients from its pilots and is working with large organisations, including PWC, Payswiff and the government of Andhra Pradesh.
