The News Minute | March 15, 2015 | 06.20 pm ISTThe former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa has found herself named in the Guinness World Record for holding the largest simultaneous self-examination for breast cancer in Tamil Nadu. The event held on 6 March, 2014 featured 2,037 participants according the official Guinness World Records website was organised at Dharmapuri. The event was conducted in 10 major cities in Tamil Nadu ahead of International Women’s Day. According to an AIADMK party press release, the health camp which included a general health checkup also had a specialised section for women to identify breast cancer. A total of 16,000 women participated in the camp. The event broke the previous record for largest simultaneous self-examination for breast cancer consisted of just 971 participants. Interestingly, this isn't the first time Jayalalithaa has featured in the Guinness World Record.She made a special appearance in 1995 for hosting the largest reception banquet for over 150,000 guests at her foster son’s wedding spread across 20 hectare grounds in Chennai, said the official.The wedding, according to the website, is said to have costed over 750 million rupees, the dining area alone costing about Rs. 15 million and the menu about Rs. 20 million. TweetFollow @thenewsminute
