Hours before ‘Udta Punjab’ is to release in theatres, co-producer Anurag Kashyap took to Facebook to urge “downloaders” to “curb the curiosity” and to “wait till Saturday till you decide to not pay for the film.”

In his post, the filmmaker confessed that he has never downloaded a film on torrent but admitted, “Occasionally I have seen downloaded films borrowed from friends and found a way to pay them later, by buying them on DVD or bluray”.

Reacting to his post, one reader called Kashyap a “hypocrite” asking him not to pretend that he had never downloaded a film.

The ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ director, however, shot back with this one-liner:

‘Udta Punjab’ starring Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, had earlier run into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification which called for 89 cuts to the film before the Bombay High Court intervened, giving the go-ahead with a single cut.
