The News Minute | February 3, 2015 | 04:16 pm IST A day after the Maharashtra government announced that they would probe the All India Bakchod (AIB) roast for its ‘vulgar’ content, a comment by a Censor Board member seems to have left many ‘palm-faced’.Film-maker Ashoke Pandit, who is also a member of the Censor Board, put out a series of tweets on Tuesday morning questioning whether AIB had in fact taken necessary permission to host the show.However one of his tweets was a direct, and a crass attack on film maker Karan Johar, one of the hosts at the AIB roast.Pandit wrote, ‘Karan Johar could have easily shown his position while performing sex to his mom at home instead of making it public.#AIB Porn Show.’What vivid description! Now, surely no one can defend him saying he is not good with words. Or maybe Pandit thought, he could fight comedy with comedy, and failed with top marks at that. Pandit’s profession requires him to regulate the public exhibition of films and no, AIB's roast was not a film (because then Pandit would have made sure we would not be having this discussion). Assuming, opposing what is ‘vulgar’ is in his nature, that is also where lies the irony.Trying to beat what he thought was ‘vulgar’ with his own kind of vulgarity? Nothing better than dragging someone's mother into the picture. AIB was at least funny.The roast was a pre-planned and rehearsed event. The jokes and insults were meant to be taken on a humourous note (read COMEDY). The audience knew what to expect and paid exactly for that. Pandit’s statement, sadly, only puts the spotlight back on him. The government might as well probe him and save on the cost. Another of his tweet reads, 'I support #MaharashtraGovts inquiry into #AIB a porn show on stage'.Looks like Pandit either doesn't know what real porn is or or has been watching a different kind.In a post dripping with sarcasm, movie critic Sudhish Kamath did his own version of a roast - back on Ashok Pandit!He writes, ‘But we need to thank him because he’s pointed out, that you do not just make love, you do not just HAVE sex, you “perform sex†that people would pay 4000 bucks to watch. @AshokePandit thinks he’s funny because he Punnedit. (Ok, bad one)’.Suddenly, everything else compared to Pandit’s statement sounds better - funnier and way way more decent to the ears. For those who woke up after a week’s sleep, AIB released the video of the roast, a genre of insult comedy, with Bollywood actors Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh on YouTube on January 28. Ever since, the videos have gone viral, garnering over 8,000,000 views.Watch the videos here before they get banned.
