Malayalam movie Virus has opened to positive reviews on its release and is turning out to be a big grosser. The film is based on the Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala last year and how the state had dealt with it.
On working in the film, actor Parvathy shared a post online, which speaks volumes of how much she enjoyed working in Virus and especially shared her thoughts on working in a Rima Kallingal production. She writes, “Rima, I am so incredibly proud of you. You’ve shown me how to be a game-changer, a truthsayer and an absolutely uncompromising artist by example! Through your company, I have learnt the value of honesty; towards others yes but more importantly, towards oneself! You’ve stuck by me during some very difficult times, showing me how you never back down supporting your people. You’re that friend one can always count on. It takes a lot of courage to be so gracefully open to growth while embodying these values that are quite rare to find these days. It is an ABSOLUTE HONOUR to be part of a movie that starts with the title - “RIMA KALLINGAL PRESENTS”. Here’s to many more, my dearest fellow warrior queen! Let’s keep making art!”
The film, directed by Aashiq Abu, has an impressive line-up of actors in the cast including Revathy, Tovino Thomas, Parvathy, Kunchacko Boban, Sreenath Bhasi, Asif Ali, Rima Kallingal, Soubin Shahir, Indrajith, Dileesh Pothan, Joju George, Madonna Sebastian and Remya Nambeesan. Revathy plays the health minister. Rima plays the real life character of nurse Lini who dies treating the first of the infected persons, and Tovino plays the Kozhikode Collector UV Jose. The scripting for Virus has been done by Mushin Parari, Suhas and Sharfu. National Award winning cinematographer Rajeev Ravi has cranked the camera for this venture with Sushin Shyam composing the tunes and Saiju Sreedharan taking charge at the editing table.
