Well-known composer Adhi of Hiphop Tamizha fame made his acting as well as directorial debut with the highly successful campus drama Meesaya Murukku, which released alongside Vikram Vedha and went on to click at the box office. Adhi is now ready with his second film, which has been titled Natpe Thunai. The film’s title and first look video were released earlier this month. Directed by D Parthiban Desingu, the film is being presented by Sundar C, who had produced Meesaya Murukku as well. Debutante Anagha plays the film’s leading lady.

Apparently, Natpe Thunai revolves around hockey and also focuses on friendship. Adhi plays a hockey player in the film, which was officially launched in Chennai last December. According to a source close to Adhi, he signed the project after he heard just five minutes of the script. “He was bowled over by the script. He immediately gave his nod but he said he can’t shoot right away as he was occupied with his music commitments. If everything goes as planned, the film will hit the screens this December. It will be a fun film like Meesaya Murukku, but it also has an emotional angle involving hockey,” the source told TNM.

The industry grapevine is that Natpe Thunai will release alongside Nayanthara’s Airaa and Karthi’s Dev on December 21. On the music front, Adhi is busy with Sivakarthikeyan’s next film with director Rajesh and Jayam Ravi’s 24th yet-untitled film. His last album was the Nayanthara starrer Imaikka Nodigal, which turned out to be a box office hit.
