The makers of Nani’s Gang Leader released the trailer of the film a few weeks ago and it seems like the film is creating the right buzz. From the title and the teaser, it is evident that Nani plays the gang leader of five women belonging to different age groups, helping them to plot revenge. Nothing much about the film has been divulged expect that Nani’s character is named Pencil. Also, from the teaser, it can be deciphered that Nani’s Gang Leader will be completely different from mega Chiranjeevi’s Gang Leader that was released several years ago.
The film looks like a promising wholesome entertainer, which has been directed by Vikram Kumar. While Nani has high hopes on the film, a source from the unit told Deccan Chronicle, “Nani’s performance was highly appreciated in his earlier film Jersey, and expectations continue to be high for this upcoming film. The actor hopes that the success streak will continue.”
Recently, the production house for Gang Leader has run into a minor setback over the title with SMK Films and Manikayam Movies filing a complaint at the film chamber that they have the rights for the title as it was registered by the production houses mentioned above.
The makers of the film initially were planning to release the film on August 3h, but the makers have now recently postponed the release to September 13 to avoid clash with Prabhas’ magnum opus Saaho which is hitting screens on August 30.
Gang Leader is produced by Naveen Yerneni, Y. Ravishankar and Mohan under the banner Mythri Movie Makers with Vikram K Kumar wielding the megaphone. Anirudh is composing music for the film.
Ever since it was announced that Nani’s film is titled Gang Leader, netizens, particularly megastar Chiranjeevi’s fans, have been discussing the suitability of the title for a Nani starrer. Gang Leader is the title of one of the biggest hits that had Chiranjeevi as its main lead. Therefore, his fans feel that it should be used for his son Ram Charan Teja’s films. Despite a big round of discussion going on in social media and other forums, the title has been retained.
