It was a sight that could have melted the hardest of hearts. A 10-year-old boy pleading in despair as he's pulled out of his house, his hands protectively clutching a small bird. On Tuesday, Adhityan was at home with his siblings when police officials arrived at his door in Kunnamkulam, Thrissur. A Kerala court had given an order attaching the property due to an unpaid loan.

His parents were away and Adhityan, the youngest of the three children, did his best to stop the officials from taking over the house. He locked the door and even poured kerosene on the floor in a desperate bid to stand his ground. However, even as he was wailing helplessly when being pulled out of the house by the police officials who were assigned to evict the family, Adhityan did not forget about the other resident in his home - a bird which he'd been raising. The little pet, too, had lost its home.

The pictures of the young boy trying to save the bird were posted on Facebook by a journalist who was at the scene. In these visuals which have gone viral and touched the hearts of many, Adhityan can be seen carefully holding the small, yellow-green bird in his hand all through, even while speaking to the police officials or looking around for someone who can help him.

“Adhityan’s wails asking the officials to leave the house and telling them that they (the family) were cheated, brought tears to even the police officers who were present there. In between all this, he kept close the yellow bird which had lost its shelter too,” Philip Jacob, the journalist who posted the photos, wrote on Facebook.

Adhityan is the son of Madhurancherry Benny of Kunnamkulam. As per reports, the family had taken a loan from a district cooperative bank in 2004. Benny gave the power of attorney of the land to another person who gave him Rs 10 lakh in turn. However, the person who lent the money to Benny allegedly mortgaged the property for Rs 50 lakh. This has reportedly led to Benny and family losing their home. The property was placed for auction by the bank as the due was not settled and was sold to an Ernakulam native.

According to reports, Adhityan and his older siblings who are 12 and 17 years of age respectively, closed the door when the police officials came to attach the property in an effort of resistance. Though the police officials tried to placate the children, they reportedly did not listen and the door had to be broken down to get them out.
