Over a week after JD (S) State President HD Kumaraswamy underwent a valve replacement surgery, he addressed the media on Tuesday.

The JD(S) leader is catching up with the BJP and Congress, which have already launched their election campaign to reach the voters in a run up ti the 2018 Assembly polls.

The former Chief Minister announced that the JD(S) will begin its door-to-door campaign titled – Mane Manege Kumaranna in November, in order to reach out to every household in Karnataka. 

Kumaraswamy himself will lead the door to door campaign and take not of the issues faced by people living in rural Karnataka.

On Tuesday, JD(S) Supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda told media persons that Kumaraswamy and other leaders would commence the door-to-door campaign on November 1. 

“Groups will be formed comprising JD(S) leaders and party workers. Kumaraswamy will also lead one such group. These groups will try to reach out to voters in a big way. Leaders of national parties have ignored Naiks and Vishwakarmas. We will not neglect them during our campaign,” HD Deve Gowda told the media.

Kumaraswamy, who underwent a surgery last week for a replacement of a valve in his heart, told his party workers through video conference facility that he would be available for party work from November. 

He also thanked them for their prayers for his speedy recovery. “I would like to extend my heart-felt thanks and gratitude to all the party workers, who prayed for my recovery. Lakhs of party workers had offered prayers are various religious shrines for my recovery. I thank you all for your blessings,” Kumaraswamy said.

Kumaraswamy is diabetic and had undergone an open-heart surgery in December 2007, following which he has suffered from health problems.

He has admitted to being highly prone to infections and allergies. During his North Karnataka tour a few weeks ago, he developed a cough after inhaling fumes emitted by fire crackers. The coughing aggravated during his recent visit to Israel, where he was advised hospitalisation.
