Kamal Haasan announced his brainchild Sabaash Naidu early last year and the film went on the floors. However, after a schedule in the US, the project did not proceed further following a series of unfortunate incidents. Very early into the filming, its director TK Rajeev Kumar fell ill and opted out. Following this, Kamal Haasan took over as the director and completed the schedule in the US. On his return to Chennai, the star fell down the staircase and was out of action for a couple of months owing to which the film’s progress was stalled. When Sabaash Naidu was about to recommence, Kamal’s sister-in-law and then his brother Chandrahaasn, one of the producers of the film, passed away. All this put the project on hold.

When enquired about the progress of the film, we came to know that Sabaash Naidu has not been shelved. Apparently, the film’s shooting will recommence very soon. Sources say that Kamal Haasan is busy with the television show Big Boss right now and will begin concentrating on the film after he is done with it.

To be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously, the film has a huge star cast including Shruti Haasan, Ramya Krishnan, Saahil Prem and Brahmanandam. Maestro Ilaiyaraaja is composing the tunes for this film with Jaya Krishna Gummadi cranking the camera and James Joseph taking care of the editing.

It may be mentioned that Sabaash Naidu is developed on the Balram Naidu character, essayed by Kamal Haasan in the magnum opus Dasavatharam. Reports indicate that before Sabaash Naidu makes it to the silver screens, the star is keen on having Vishwaroopam released. Incidentally, Vishwaroopam 2 is in the post-production mode and is likely to release later this year.
