A govenment employee who attempted suicide on Sunday died on Monday morning after mentioning a senior engineer in his dying declaration for causing him mental agony. R. Muthukrishnan, aged 38, had set himself on fire, after which he was rushed to the Tiruvarur hospital where he deposed before Judicial Magistrate Kavitha about Exective Engineer Senthil Kumar for causing him mental agony, reported The Hindu. He deposed that Kumar had been harassing him and had also called him a "dunce" during work. It was then that Muthukrishnan got a transfer to Nannilam Panchayat Union as an overseer six months ago. Following information about the declaration, Muthukrishnan's relaties as well as those belonging to the TN Government Employees Association refused to accept the body demanding the arrest of Kumar, said the report. A case registered under Section 309 of the IPC, police has now modified the FIR to include charges under Section 306 of the IPC against Kumar for causing the death of Muthukrishnan.
