Google has brought to India a special job listing feature as part of its search engine, after having launched a similar feature in the US. LinkedIn has been in roped in as a partner in the execution of this feature. In India, the job portals and others to partner this initiative include Aasaanjobs, Freshersworld, Headhonchos, IBM Talent Management Solutions, Quezx, QuickrJobs, Shine.com, TimesJobs and Wisdomjobs.

The moment a person looking for jobs puts in the job description on the search bar, the search results will throw up the whole list duly categorized with location and other details. The query can be further expanded to location specific jobs or other preferences. The significance of this new feature on Google is you could switch to the partner’s site straight from that page to apply for the position.

It further allows you to save the search results or the jobs you shortlist and set up a prompt when the next set of similar jobs are advertised. This feature can be availed on both desktops as well as on mobiles, both Android and iOS devices.

Google executives have indicated that they found a sudden spike in job searches and that has prompted them to bring this search tool for the Indian users.

Google already has a recruitments related software product called Google Hire. This software suite is being used by large organizations to make the process of recruitments easier with modules for sourcing of candidates, application tracking and so on.

In the new tool there is no provision to create a profile or resume page; one has to just jump to the partner’s website to complete the application formalities. Another special provision is an open documentation page that permits corporate entities and job portals to keep updating their entries for vacancies which can then be picked by the search engine’s algorithms and added to the search results.

Google has a dedicated page on its developers’ site which provides the details of how the partners and others wanting to post their jobs can use the tool to do so.
