Google is keeping up to its pattern of launching its Pixel range of smartphones in the month of October. This year, the event titled ‘Made by Google’, is being scheduled for Tuesday, October 15 and will be held in New York City.

This year, there have been many revelations on what the phones, the Google Pixel 4 and the Google Pixel 4 XL will be sporting, and what improvements to look for from the previous iterations. Things came to a pass some months ago when Google itself shared a render of the rear camera setup of the forthcoming devices, setting at rest the rumour mills.

The expectation is that apart from the two smartphone models, the company may release the Pixelbook2 as well as some new models or improved versions of the Google Home speakers. There is no official word from Google on this yet.

The feature being eagerly awaited in these Google Pixel phones is the Project Soli radar chip that will be embedded on the front forehead, which can read hand gestures and make changes to the volume or move the screen up or down etc. There is however some difficulty in making this feature available in all markets due to regulatory norms or certification issues. In India for instance, Google may not be able to offer this facility.

In view of the speculations over the past few weeks and months, people feel there may not be anything of a surprise when Google unveils the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL phones next 15th. However, once released, comparisons will definitely be made with other premium phones. Of particular interest will be the optics section since the Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL phones scored high when pitted against other makes which had higher rated cameras.
