Filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, who has just completed shooting for a web series on the life of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, has been roped in to play the antagonist in GV Prakash Kumar’s upcoming Tamil film. The yet-to-be-titled movie, which was launched on Friday, will be directed by debutante Mathimaran, who was formerly an assistant to Vetrimaaran.

Speaking to Cinema Express, director Mathimaran said: “Gautham Vasudev Menon perfectly fit the character I had in mind for the villain. That was the only reason to get him on board. The film is an action thriller, which will look at the off-campus life of a student for four years, as a biopic.”

Varsha Bollama has been signed as the leading lady while Vagai Chandrasekhar will be seen in a pivotal role. Gautham was last seen playing a brief role of a police officer in Goli Soda 2.

GV Prakash, meanwhile, has nearly half a dozen projects in his kitty. Recently seen in Sivappu Manjal Pachai, which also starred Siddharth, Prakash has Bachelor, Adangathey, 4G, Jail, Kadhalai Thedi Nithya Nandha and Ayngaran. He is also working on the Tamil remakes of Telugu films 100% Love and Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada. Prakash is also busy as a music composer with the Suriya-starrer Soorarai Pottru and Dhanush’s Asuran, which is gearing up for release on October 4.

Meanwhile, Gautham Menonawaits the release of Enai Noki Paayum Thota, which is his maiden collaboration with Dhanush. The film, which was expected to release in September, features Dhanush as a college student and Megha Akash as an actor. Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram, a Gautham Menon directorial, is also awaiting release.
