Actor Gautham Karthik, who had three releases last year, will next be seen in a film titled Chella Pillai, to be directed by debutant Arun Chandhiran, a former associate of director Ponram of Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam fame.  The title poster of the film was launched by Vijay Sethupathi via Twitter on Thursday.

It’s worth mentioning that Vijay and Gautham worked together in last year’s Tamil comedy Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren.

Speaking about the film to The New Indian Express, director Arun said, “It will be a family entertainer similar to Rajini Murugan and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. I’m from Madurai, so I’ll be able to do justice to such a genre. The nativity factor will make it a film that’ll be enjoyed by all. Soori has agreed to be part of the project, and we’re in talks with other actors.”

The film, to be produced by Isakki Durai and Anbazhaga Thimman under White Line Productions, will go on floors after the Pongal holidays this month. It will be completely shot in south Tamil Nadu. The film, which will have music by Nivas Prasanna, also stars Soori in a crucial role.

Gautham who was last seen alongside his father and veteran actor Karthik in Mr Chandramouli also has Devarattam, a film entirely set in Madurai. To be directed by Muthiah of Komban fame, the film also stars Manjima Mohan and Soori.

It is also believed that Gautham has been signed for the Tamil remake of Telugu film Needhi Nadhi Oke Katha, which was originally planned to be made with Dhanush by producer Kalaipuli S Thanu.

Gautham Karthik's recent release Chandramouli miserably failed at the box office. The actor's Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuthu helmed by director Santhosh P Jayakumar, an adult comedy franchise along the lines of the Grand Masti series, was a blockbuster hit.
