The Special Investigation Team looking into Maoist-turned-gangster Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem’s illegal activities have been reportedly questioning Telangana State Legislative Council deputy chairman Nethi Vidyasagar for the past few days, according to the Times of India. It is reported that Vidyasagar had been questioned in Nalgonda district 10 days ago by the SIT officials, and that he was questioned earlier in Hyderabad also.

The SIT and the deputy chairman have denied the questioning.

It is also reported that SIT officials have gathered information on Vidyasagar’s alleged links with Nayeem. The New Indian Express states that the deputy chairman was allegedly questioned for more than three hours by the team, which was led by a senior IPS officer.

Sources told TNIE that the SIT has collected registration papers, documents pertaining to open plots and land located in Bhongir.

However, the SIT in-charge has denied the questioning.  MLC Vidyasagar too has denied it.

“The reports about police questioning me are absolutely false. Till date, police have not contacted me. There is no case against me in the first place. In the complaint registered by Nagendar too, my name is not mentioned in the FIR,” the deputy chairman told TOI.

In November last year, a retired additional superintendent of police, Ravinder Reddy who was posted in Nalgonda district was questioned by the SIT team in connection with the Nayeem case.

The name of the officer came during the investigation where the officers had analysed gangster Nayeem’s call data and his personal diary.

However, the officer told Deccan Chronicle that he did not have any personal connection with the gangster but met Nayeem twice as part of his duty in Nalgonda.

Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem alias Balanna (45), wanted in several cases including the murder of an IPS officer, was killed in an alleged encounter with police in Shadnagar town of Mahabubnagar district of the state on August 8 last year.
