'He waved a pistol at us, told us to put our hands up and said that he belongs to an important family," allege the complainants.

Former Vice President BD Jatti’s son has landed in trouble after he allegedly flashed a gun at Whitefield residents and threatened them on Wednesday night.

According to DCP Whitefield Abdul Ahad, a resident named Subrahmani filed a complaint with the Whitefield Police Station, alleging that BD Jatti’s son Danappa Basappa Jatti wielded a pistol at the residents, threatened and abused them verbally.

The residents of Dwarakamiya Layout in Whitefield, who had bought villas from Danappa Jatti and his wife Lakshmi D Jatti, filed a complaint against Dasappa and his wife Lakshmi, on Wednesday night at the Whitefield Police Station.

“There have been many problems regarding the facilities in the housing layout and BD Jatti’s son had cut off water supply when we questioned him. Last night (Wednesday night), he waved a pistol at us, told us to put our hands up and said that he belongs to an important family and that nobody can do anything to him,” a resident, who chose to remain anonymous said.

In 2006, Danappa Jatti had developed Jatti Dwarakamayi layout in Whitefield, where 26 villas were constructed.

Residents alleged that in June this year, Danappa Jatti had put up a notice for all residents saying that they have to pay Rs 100 for an hour for using the playground and Rs 100 per hour for using the walking track.

“In addition, he asked each household to pay Rs 10,540 as maintenance. When we questioned him as to why the sudden increase he cut off our water supply. He issued a notice stating that we should not use the walking tracks and suggested, very crassly that we walk outside the layout gate,” the resident added.

Residents alleged that the STP and the garbage disposal system have been shut off in order to “deliberately inconvenience the residents”.

They said that the sewerage system is stinking and fear that it will be a health hazard. They say that they often have to deal with snakes . “Water stagnates under the bricks where the inner road is located and is a haven for mosquitoes,” the resident added.

“Since we have been living here for years, we had also asked him if we ourselves can take care of the maintenance by forming a housing society but he did not allow that as well. Yesterday (Wednesday) Jatti and his wife came by and when we questioned them about the hike in maintenance amount, he pulled out the pistol and began hurling abuses at us. He is curbing our freedom to live properly,” another resident alleged.

Based on the complaint filed by 14 residents, the Whitefield police have registered an FIR
