All the Tamil Nadu parties are getting ready to contest elections in RK Nagar constituency on April 12. On Monday, former ADGP G Thilakavathi joined O Panneerselvam’s camp.
She told The Times of India that there are several aspirants for the RK Nagar seat but still she is willing to contest the elections.
Senior AIADMK leader K Pandiaraj stated that the announcement of the candidate for RK Nagar will be made in four days after conducting a meeting with the leaders. He also added that they are in contact with CPM and VCK to join their faction.
Thilakavathi said that she was planning to join a party for long and after seeing Panneerselvam’s good work during Cyclone Vardah to jallikattu issue and following his outburst at Amma memorial, it made her join his camp.
Moreover, DMK has also given an open invitation to PWF to have an alliance for the upcoming elections. However, the PWF is yet to take a final call. Even though VCK leader Thirumavalavan shares a rapport with Stalin, CPM leader G Ramakrishnan took to social media to state that without Stalin’s invite also, they will be contesting the elections.
ToI reported that DMK might make Shimla Muthuchozhan, the party's 2016 candidate, or legal wing secretary R Girirajan, the candidate for the RK Nagar elections.
N Mathivanan, son of one of the DMK founders, V R Nedunchezhiya, also joined Panneerselvam’s camp at his residence on Monday.
On Sunday, Arunkumar met former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and his supporters. He was one of the MLAs who was kept at the Golden Bay Resort but had managed to escape a day before the confidence vote in the assembly, and had abstained from the vote.
