Director SS Rajamouli, after the reverberating success of the Baahubali franchise on which he spent five years, announced that he would be working on a multi-starrer with Ram Charan Teja and Jr NTR. This is the first time the two stars are sharing screen space, which has their fans going gaga over the project. Tentatively titled RRR, the project seems to be based on their names – Rajamouli, Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr.

After several months of prep work, RRR went on the floors last month. The muhurat of the film was a star-studded event with Megastar Chiranjeevi gracing it along with a host of others. Chiranjeevi gave the first clap for the film.

The first schedule of the high voltage action thriller was shot for nearly 20 days at specially erected sets at Aluminium Factory in Hyderabad. Both the lead stars, Jr NTR and Ram Charan, had participated in the shoot. The schedule has now been wrapped up and the second schedule will commence in January 2019.

Meanwhile, Ram Charan will take a break, fly to Sabarimala and shoot for the last song of Vinaya Vidheya Rama before returning to RRR.

Sources in the know say that RRR is a period film set in the pre-Independence era. Touted to be an action drama set in 1920, Jr NTR and Ram Charan reportedly play brothers. On the technical crew for the project, we hear that MM Keeravani is onboard to compose the tunes. International fitness trainer Lloyd Stevens has been roped in to train the lead actors.

To be bankrolled by DVV Danayya under his banner DVV Entertainments, about Rs 300 crore have been earmarked for the project of which a major part will be utilised for the VFX. The film will also be high on CG. RRR’s release date is fixed for Sankranthi 2020 across all regional languages.
