For the first time ever, ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam will be shooting a song outside the Indian subcontinent. Despite being in the film industry for well over three decades, the director has never done that so far, we hear.

The song will be featuring the lead pair – Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari. RJ Balaji is playing the comedian in a Mani Ratnam directorial for the first time. It may also be noted that Karthi, wanting to carve a niche for himself as a director, had worked as Mani Ratnam’s associate before being bitten by the acting bug.

Kaatru Veliyidai, a romantic film, is reportedly nearing completion. AR Rahman’s music for this romance will be a major highlight. In fact, ever since Roja, Mani – Rahman collaboration has produced some of the most popular chartbusters.

The Telugu dubbed version of Kaatru Veliyidai titled Duet will be released along with the Tamil version. Ravi Varman is cranking the camera for the movie with Sreekar Prasad taking charge at the editing table.
