Kamal Haasan launched the first look and title of his upcoming production with Vikram in the lead on Tuesday. Titled Kadaram Kondan, the film also has Akshara Haasan as part of the cast.

Vikram's 56th film comes after Sketch, which was a flop, and Saamy Square, which proved to be a disappointing sequel to a blockbuster film. Directed by Rajesh M Selva, Kadaram Kondan has music by Ghibran.

The poster for Kadaram Kondan shows a heavily tattooed Vikram sporting a funky hairstyle and sunglasses. He's also handcuffed, with wisps of smoke around him. The buildings featured in the poster suggest that the action may take place in Malaysia.

Kadaram Kondan could also be an allusion to Chola king Rajendra Chola who was bestowed the name which means the one who conquered Kadaram, for having sacked the city of Kadaram or modern day Kedah in Malaysia around 1025 CE.

Raajkamal Films last produced Vishwaroopam 2, the sequel to Kamal action thriller. The film, however, proved to be a disaster at the box office. Akshara Haasan was last seen in Ajith's Vivegam where she played the role of a hacker.

Vikram is a versatile actor, having won several awards in his long career including the National Award for Best Actor in 2003 for Pithamagan, Tamil Nadu State Government Award for Best Actor in 1999 for Sethu and in 2003 for Pithamagan. He was honored with the Kalaimamani award by the Tamil Nadu state government in 2004.

He also has the Gautham Menon directorial Dhruva Natchathiram lined up for release this year.

Kamal, on the other hand, will be completing Sabaash Naidu before going ahead with the Shankar directorial Indian 2, which is the sequel to Indian that released 22 years ago.

The actor-turned-politician also announce a sequel to his 1991 film Thevar Magan.
