The first look of director Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s much-awaited Super Deluxe, starring Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Mysskin and Ramya Krishnan in leading roles was released on Monday. This film is only his second that is being made eight years after his critically acclaimed debut Aaranya Kaandam.
The poster profiles the first look of all the cast members, with the focus being on Vijay Sethupathi’s role as a Shilpa, transwoman. The poster’s retro comic artwork adds a unique appeal to it. The film also stars Bagavathi Perumal and Gayathrie in supporting roles. The film’s release date is yet to be announced.

Super Deluxe’s teaser was released earlier this year and we were introduced to Samantha’s character Vaembu, who was seen anxiously readying to bring down the butchers knife on someone lying unconscious. Vijay Sethupathi was earlier introduced as Shilpa.
The film’s screenplay has been written by Thiagarajan with additional inputs from Mysskin, Nalan Kumarasamy and Neelan K Sekar. The film is being bankrolled by the director under his own banner, TDKF. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing music for this venture, with PS Vinod and Nirav Shah cranking the camera and Sathyaraj Natarajan taking care of the editing.
Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s directorial debut was with the critically acclaimed film Aaranya Kaandam, which went on to win several awards including the National Film Award for Best First Film of a Director and Best Editing (for Praveen KL and NB Srikanth). The film premiered at the South Asian International Film Festival on October 30, 2010, and released in India on June 10 next year.
Super Deluxe marks the first-time collaboration between director Thiagarajan and Vijay Sethupathi. The actor was last seen playing Ram in Prem Kumar’s romantic drama 96, alongside Trisha. He has a bunch of other films up for release including Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta.
