The first look teaser of Nani's upcoming film Jersey is out and has garnered plenty of attention because of its cricket-related backdrop.The teaser reveals the basic character sketch of Nani who plays the role of Arjun, a 36-year-old cricketer, who, despite several hurdles and disappointments, shines in the league.

The film is being helmed by director Gowtam Tinnanuri. Nani meanwhile, prepared for the role by undergoing special training in cricket. While rumours were rife that Reba Monica John, cousin of actor Anu Emmanuel, might be roped in for the film, finally it was Shraddha Srinath who was signed for a pivotal role in the film.

Nani had expressed his desire to star in a sports based film earlier, along the lines of the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal and looks like his wish is coming true with Jersey. The shooting of this film began last September and it is slated to hit the screens this April.

According to the latest reports, Jersey will be set in a different time period. Sources say that it will begin on the year 1986 and end in 1996. What happens during this decade forms the crux of Jersey and Nani will be seen appearing in three different get-ups.

Composer Anirudh who made his debut in Tollywood with the Pawan Kalyan starrer Agnyathavasi is composing music for Jersey. Reports from Tollywood are that he had quoted Rs 1.25 crores for the job but eventually settled for Rs 80 lakh.

The film will be produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under the banner of Sithara Entertainments, which had bankrolled Naga Chaitanya’s Premam and Venkatesh Babu’s Bangaram as well. Both were hits. Sithara Entertainments is currently producing Naga Chaitanya’s Sailaja Reddy Alludu and a Sharwanand starrer which is being directed by Sudheer Varma.
