The new poster of Nani starrer sports drama Jersey is out. The caption is rather long and reads, “VINTAGE SPARKLES At 36 there is nothing left for him to prove in cricket. The dreams and heartburns have been left behind.. 1996-97 Ranji trophy season was just a display of his love for batting (sic).”
The poster released on the New Year Day featured Nani in a Jersey and he sports a beard as well. Reports are that he plays a 36-year-old with a wife and child but his passion for cricket makes him want to make it to the Indian cricket team.
It may be noted here that the first look poster of Jersey, released in September last year, made it clear that it is a film about cricket. The jersey hanging in a cupboard along with the cricket gear around it did go viral among netizens. In fact, Nani had expressed his desire to star in a sports based film on the lines of the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal and looks like his wish is coming true with Jersey.
Jersey is being bankrolled by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under the banner of Sithara Entertainments and helmed by director Gowtam Tinnanuri. The film will have Anirudh composing the tunes, Navin Nooli in charge of the editing and Sanu Varghese cranking the camera.
Jersey has Nani and Shraddha Srinath playing the lead pair with Sathyaraj, Brahmaji and Ronit Kamra in supporting roles.
The shooting of Jersey is currently under progress and it is reaching the final stages. The post production will begin soon and plans are on to release it on April 19.
Meantime, sources in the know say that Mahi V Raghav will be signing up Vishal and Nani for his next and has impressed the stars with a good story line and have sought their approval. To be made in Tamil and Telugu, this multi starrer will be bankrolled by Prasad V Potluri under his banner PVP Cinemas.
