Directed by Ponram, the film will mark the return of Sivakarthikeyan to a rural avatar.

Sivakarthikeyan is on cloud nine with his continuing Midas touch. His last release, Velaikkaran was a hit and his upcoming film with Ponram is progressing at a breakneck speed.

After Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan, actor Sivakarthikeyan and director Ponram have teamed up for the third time for a rural comedy. The film’s makers on Thursday announced that the first look and title of this project would be unveiled on February 17 on the occasion of Sivakarthikeyan’s birthday.

According to the industry grapevine, the project is rumoured to be titled Seemaraja and it also marks the first time collaboration of Sivakarthikeyan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Samantha will be seen playing a village belle, but the highlight of her character will be some sequences. In order to play her character, she learned silambam briefly and had even posted a video of her learning the traditional martial art form last year.

The film, which marks the return of Sivakarthikeyan in a rural avatar, has been predominantly shot in places such as Tenkasi, Madurai, and Theni. The makers are hopeful of bringing to the film to cinemas this summer.

Tipped to be a rip-roaring laugh riot, the film features Simran in a negative role. “She’s not playing the villain but it’s a role that has negative shades. Simran loved the fact that she was approached to do such a different role and not play a regular mother or sister role,” a source said TNM.

Last seen in a brief role in Vishal’s Thupparivaalan, Simran also has an interesting role in Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram. The project marks her reunion with Gautham Menon after Vaaranam Aayiram. She will be sharing screen space with Sarath Kumar, Radikaa, Parthiepan, Ritu Varma and Aishwarya Rajesh in the film.
