Kumbalangi Nights, starring Fahadh Faasil and Shane Nigam, is slated for release on February 7 next year. The film, directed by Madhu Narayanan, is scripted by Syam Pushkaran.

Fahadh Faasil will be seen as the main villain in Kumbalangi Nights, according to reports. The actor will reportedly be seen playing a psycho in the movie.

It may be noted here that Fahadh did play a role with shades of gray in 22 Female Kottayam earlier but his role in Kumbalangi Nights will be that of a full fledge villain. However, there is no official confirmation on his role yet. Besides Shane Nigam, Kumbalangi Nights will also have Soubin Shahir and Sreenath Bhasi playing important roles.

Director and actor Dileesh Pothan will get together with Fahadh to produce the film. Dileesh has cast Fahadh in the lead in both the movies he has directed – Maheshinte Prathikaaram and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum.

Madhu C Narayanan is wielding the megaphone for Kumbalangi Nights. He is an erstwhile associate of Dileesh Pothan. Music will be composed by Sushin Syam, who won appreciation for his songs for Varathan.

Dileesh Pothan, who began his career as an assistant director, made his acting debut with the 2011 movie, Salt N Pepper, directed by Ashiq Abu. He has worked with Ashiq in several movies before going on to direct his first film, Maheshinte Prathikaaram. The movie was a big success and it won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value, National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam|National Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam and NETPAC Best Malayalam Film, 22 International Film Festival of Kerala.

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, Dileesh’s second movie that introduced actor Nimisha Sajayan, also fetched positive reviews from the critics. Nimisha and Shane Nigam later came together in the film Eeda, for which both actors were appreciated.
