You have just been through a bad break. You hate that person, you hate the fact that the person chose to break up with you. Either way, you don’t want to see how they have moved on with their life, moving cities, making new friends, meeting new partners or taking their dog out for a walk. And most definitely, you do not want their wedding pictures plastered all over your wall.

So what do you do? Unfriending is probably too harsh, you know? Once in a while is ok? How can Facebook understand this conundrum?

Worry not, Facebook knows how you feel, and is apparently working really hard to get this right. Facebook now has sought to make this easier for the people going through the break up phase and even later.

On November 19, Facebook launched a feature called “Take a Break” to improving the experience when relationships end. This new feature says that people don’t necessarily need to unfriend or block their former partner and all one has to do is use “See Less of [add name Here]” when they change their relationship status to single.

This would limit the photos, videos or status updates that a former partner will see and vice versa.

One can edit who can see their past posts with an ex-partner, review them and untag themselves from post.

And best of all: the former partner would not be notified of the changes made.

The feature is being tested with a few people now in United States and Facebook hopes to evolve the tool based on feedback.

Writing on the Facebook blog, Product Manager Kelly Winters said, “This work is part of our ongoing effort to develop resources for people who may be going through difficult moments in their lives. We hope these tools will help people end relationships on Facebook with greater ease, comfort and sense of control.”
